WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!

To our Friends, Family and Supporters,

The 2010 Susan G. Komen Seattle 3-Day for the Cure began with an emotional Opening Ceremony at 60 Acres Park in Kirkland. We spent most of the morning along the Sammamish River Trail and North Creek Trail. Despite the rain, the Pink Sequin Bra guys were there to cheer us on as we headed towards the AT&T Cheering Station at pit stop 3. We walked through Bothell, Mill Creek and Everett and were supported along the way by friends, family and community groups. The Lynnwood Fire Department was a highlight and the 94.1 KMPS team energized the crowd at the afternoon cheering station. After a long, wet day of walking we arrived to camp at Kasch Park.

The clear blue skies were a welcome surprise when we woke up Saturday morning. We headed north out of camp and were greeted by the New Balance Cheerleaders at pit stop 2. The Forest Park Seventh Day Adventist Church had an incredible pink balloon arch stretched across the street. A few blocks later Anmrie’s Army served coffee and snacks. Mama Fox’s block on Grand Avenue in Everett welcomed us with balloon arches, water bottles and a mobile cheering unit. We took pictures at the Pair Tree before lunch at American Legion Park. Cheering stations were packed and the community was out to show us how much they care. When we arrived back at camp we were treated to a Candy Coburn concert, camp show and a fun-filled dance party.

We awoke Sunday morning to rainy skies and boarded buses to Northwest Outpatient Medical Center where we started the final day of our journey. Fuel Coffee and the Parrotheads of Puget Sound cheered us along, as did the Glacier Peak High School cheerleaders, the Tit Stop and the Seattle Fire Department. The rain eventually cleared and we ate lunch at Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. We made our way through downtown Seattle, along the waterfront and finished at Memorial Stadium right beneath the Space Needle. Friends, family and our wonderful Crew were there to welcome us to a celebratory Closing Ceremony.

On behalf of Team Healing Properties we want to say Thank you! Participating in this walk, we were part of a global movement to help stop breast cancer. When the journey began 9 months ago we thought this experience was about a walk, but over the 3-Day weekend we learned it was about a stand, standing up for a cure in a bold and committed way. With your help we were honored to be a part of a 3-Day 60 mile walk through Redmond, Bothell, Everett and Seattle (and a lot in between). All along the way being cheered on by friends, family and many strangers all who have been affected in some way by breast cancer. The emotional bond and excitement carried the walkers when our feet could no longer. I think I speak for all involved that we will no longer be the same people that we were before the walk. We stood side by side with some of the bravest people, both men and women, and sadly we stood side by side with many women that have yet to learn that they too have breast cancer. WE STOOD and made a difference. All tallied the Seattle 3 Day Walk raised over 6 million dollars.

Thank you for your support, for without you we would not have been so successful. We plan to continue the tradition in 2011, so stay tuned for more exciting updates. But for now we rest!
